In celebration for my parents 40th wedding anniversary, we decided to all get together at Randy & Elly's family cabin in Wausaukee, Wisconsin. Daddy helped arrange the whole thing, but we wanted to surprise Mommy with the reunion!
We have been planning this trip for over a year now, and holding in this huge secret from Mommy was huge! I was so scared I would ruin the surprise to her, I even dreamed about it!
But we did it!
She was completely surprised - success!
We spent the week relaxing on the edge of Elbow Lake with all the siblings & Randy, Elly, David & Elana! The 1920's cabin had so much character and charm, I think I could live there.
There was swimming, fly fishing, canoeing, sailing, porch-sitting, storytelling, and lots of ice cream!
I do not have the pictures from the trip yet (hence this is "Part one") but I will share just a few that I have.
Today was our first day of Tech Week, which means that the show opens this Friday! I kinda feel like I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off...and it's only Monday!
To make matters even crazier, we are in the process of moving....well kinda. We should be in the process of moving, but there are really only two packed boxes to be found in our house. We have to be out of our place on Saturday, so that is when it is all going to go down! We are moving in with Andrew's brother Matt & his wife Andrea. We are renting out their basement to save up some money this next year. Yay!
But for now, things are crazy. I know I need to pack, but all I want to do is sleep, and not worry about it. Somehow I think that if I don't think about it, the packing will just do itself!
(Or maybe Andrew will do it all....wishful thinking!)
But anyway, back to the show: It is going to be pretty awesome! I have really been having so much fun working on this show! The cast & crew are awesome & I'm learning so much! Check out tickets here & here. And publicity photos here!
{This is just a little re-cap of the month of May.}
Jared graduated from 6th grade this year! He will be going on to Jr High in the Fall! His school held a Medieval Festival where all the sixth graders created and ran their own booths selling jewelry, treats, games, fortune tellings, etc. It was very cool!
This is Jared the Tanner!
He sold leather bracelets with custom beads!
Again, very cool!
I had a fun time and bought myself some pretty neat stuff!
So Jared wasn't the only Nevin to graduate this year!
Joel graduated from Orem High! His grad. invites were pretty cute with the invite made by Jessica, and his handsome grad picture snapped by Carolyn. He is lucky to have such artsy sisters!
And here he is all graduated! (and with a haircut)
Oh, and here's a pretty cute picture of Lincoln.
That kid can't get enough Spiderman, Ironman, Superman, & Batman!
In May we also had our LAGOON DAY! But I'm sure you heard all about that already!
Every year Andrew's work has a Lagoon Day. This year we brought Jared with us and had a blast! Last year, Wicked, which is the newest & best roller coaster was closed, so we made sure that it was the first ride we did this year! It was pretty awesome...I daresay "Wicked Awesome!"
Funny Story: Jared convinced us to ride the Cliffhanger at 11:30 AM. Now this particular ride seemed to be a water ride from what I could tell, but was convinced otherwise by both Jared and the man controlling the ride....HOWEVER we ended up sitting in what seemed to be the only three seats that were doused with water on the ride! Needless to say, it was pretty miserable with mascara running down my face & walking around completely drenched until we dried....hours later. Jared thought this was hilarious!
We enjoyed the (somewhat) historic town of Pioneer Village where we learned about telephones, carriages, and circus midgets!
A few days ago I was asked to Stage Manage Annie Get Your Gun for the Scera! Like Funny Girl, it is a part of their outdoor season. The show runs end of July - mid August, then an additional run at BYU for Education Week! I'm pretty excited about this opportunity!
"Nervous, happy, scared, excited! You name it, I am it!"
However, me switching over to Annie Get Your Gun means that I am finished working with Funny Girl. It's so strange to leave the show now when they are about to begin tech rehearsals! I've been with it from the beginning; it's just so strange to put so much work into a show and not get to see it through...
But like I said this will be a very awesome opportunity for me: I am an official stage manager & the pay is better! Hopefully, I can continue working with the Scera on their upcoming season!
Just a little picture post so that you can know that we are alive & well! Now that the weather is finally nice and beginning to feel like Summer, we have been spending as much time outside as possible! And we have been rock climbing! I must say, that it does not come as easily for me, but I do try & I (almost) always make it to the top!
......................................
Now for the pictures:
*This last picture is of me climbing at night. I don't really know how I feel about night climbing just yet. There are too many worms/millipedes/weird insects lurking in the dark crevices of the rocks for me to feel comfortable about this.*
As it turns out, I'm going to spend my Summer here, in Utah. I'm enrolled in only one class for the Spring term and am working part time at the ticket office. This means that I have a lot of extra time (for now). Extra time is a rarity in my life, so I'm going to fully take advantage of this opportunity and catch up on all those books/plays I want to read. There are so many books/plays that I need to catch up on so I don't have to plug my ears to avoid potential spoilers. Also, I have started so many books that I just never got around to finishing! So, I am going to start a book list. Today I started 1984 by George Orwell. I am already entranced.
Everyone please give me some summer reading suggestions!
